Mount Lofty Descent by Mountain Bike

Ride description: Experience a unique urban mountain bike adventure with Escapegoat! Ride from the summit of Mount Lofty all the way down to Adelaide, though stunning native bush, and enjoy a visit to Cleland wildlife park. Spot Koalas in their native environment, and see kangaroo’s and emus along the way. It’s downhill all the way!

 

Hills Vines and Wines by Bike

Ride description: Come along and enjoy a beautiful day of exploring the hills and vineyards of South Australia by bike along sections of the Kidman trail- and don’t worry, we will take the sting out of the climbs by starting at the highest point in the area and riding mostly downhill!

 

Flinders Ranges by Mountain Bike

Ride description: Come and explore the Flinders Ranges by bike with Escapegoat Adventures!  The 200km loop, created by local land owners, takes you through private properties as well as national park land, and covers sections not normally open to the public. The ride starts at Wilpena Pound, and takes in some of the most stunning parts of this amazing location.

The following tours are offered by Escapegoat Adventures which is a fully accredited tourism business and a licensed tour operator, and the only operator currently licensed by the Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources to conduct mountain bike riding in Cleland Conservation Park. All trips are led by a highly qualified local mountain bike guide.

Mount Lofty descent by Mountain Bike
 

 

Provider: Escapegoat Adventures

Time: 4 hours – departing 0900 hours, returning 1300 hours
Dates: Thursday 22 May 2014
          Saturday 24 May 2014

Ride description: Experience a unique urban mountain bike adventure with Escapegoat! Ride from the summit of Mount Lofty all the way down to Adelaide, though stunning native bush, and enjoy a visit to Cleland wildlife park. Spot Koalas in their native environment, and see kangaroo’s and emus along the way. It’s downhill all the way!
Competency and fitness: Novice or intermediate riders keen to explore the Adelaide hills off-road
Transfers: Pickup from Bicycle SA, 111 Franklin St, Adelaide - and return to Bicycle SA, 111 Franklin St, Adelaide
Places available: Maximum 12 people per ride
Itinerary: Experience Adelaide in a totally different way! We will pick you up from Central Adelaide, and transport you to the summit of Mount Lofty, which at 710m is the highest point in the Mount Lofty Ranges, and offers stunning views of Adelaide, the Adelaide hills, and the plains below. From here it is downhill all the way back to Adelaide!
After a stop for photos, we will provide you with a good quality mountain bike and helmet, and make sure you are comfortable and happy with your bike. It is then a short ride though Cleland Conservation park to our first stop of the day, Cleland Wildlife park. Here you will have a chance to wander at leisure and feed or pat kangaroos, Wallabies, emus and many other native wildlife. You may even have the chance to pat a koala.
After a little morning tea, it is then time to continue our descent down to Adelaide. We will ride through stunning natural bush, and will spot more koalas or kangaroos in their native environment, along with more stunning views of Adelaide.
Finally we will cruise though the quiet roads and suburbs of Adelaide to the end of our trip.
The riding is suitable for anyone who is comfortable riding a bike on unsurfaced roads. You will be on your bike for about 1 1/2 hours in total, and the riding is mainly on gentle downhill trails, or on flat trails and roads.
Cost: $99 pp
Inclusions: Transport to Mount Lofty, bike hire, entry to Cleland wildlife Park, morning tea.

Ride description: Come along and enjoy a beautiful day of exploring the hills and vineyards of South Australia by bike along sections of the Kidman trail- and don’t worry, we will take the sting out of the climbs by starting at the highest point in the area and riding mostly downhill!
Competency and fitness: Novice or intermediate riders keen to explore the Adelaide hills and wine regions on and off-road
Transfers: Pickup from Bicycle SA, 111 Franklin St, Adelaide - and return to Bicycle SA, 111 Franklin St, Adelaide
Places available: Maximum 12 people per ride
Itinerary: Come along and enjoy a beautiful day of exploring the hills and vineyards of South Australia by bike along sections of the Kidman Trail. and don’t worry, we will take the sting out of the climbs by starting at the highest point in the area and riding mostly downhill!
You will be picked up in central Adelaide in our luxury 4WD and transported to the McLaren Vale wine region. We will provide you with a good quality mountain bike with front suspension & disc brakes, and a helmet if you do not have your own.
We will start off by exploring the beautiful Kuitpo forest, before riding along sections of the Kidman trail and then enjoying the descent down Willunga Hill towards McLaren Vale. We will then ride through the vineyards and stop at a number of local wineries to sample their fare and perhaps purchase some wine to take home with you. We will also stop for a lunch comprising of local produce along the way. The final destination may vary depending on the wants and needs of the group.
Finally, you will be picked up and transported back to Adelaide. The riding is fairly leisurely and is suitable for anyone who is happy riding a bike on fire tracks and country roads. Vehicle support is included and any wines purchased (or tired riders!) can be picked up for you by our driver.

Flinders Ranges by Mountain Bike

Dates: Sunday 1 June till Thursday 5 June 2014
Ride description: Come and explore the Flinders Ranges by bike with Escapegoat Adventures!  The 200km loop, created by local land owners, takes you through private properties as well as national park land, and covers sections not normally open to the public. The ride starts at Wilpena Pound, and takes in some of the most stunning parts of this amazing location.
Competency and fitness: Intermediate/advanced riders keen to explore the outback Australia by mountain bike
Transfers: Pickup from Bicycle SA, 111 Franklin St, Adelaide - and return to BicycleSA, 111 Franklin St, Adelaide
Places available: Minimum 6 people - Maximum 12 people
Itinerary: Come and explore the Flinders Ranges by bike Come and explore outback Australia with Escapegoat Adventures!
We specialise in small group trips to the heart of the Flinders Ranges. ‘Flinders Ranges by bike‘ is a 200km cycle adventure, which starts at Wilpena Pound, and takes in some of the most stunning areas of this amazing location. The loop, created by local land owners, takes you through private properties as well as national park land, and covers sections not normally open to the public. It links parts of the Mawson Trail with an existing network of old pastoral trails on each property.
It takes 4 days to ride, with an average of 50km a day, and a good level of fitness and mountain bike experience is strongly recommended!
Whilst much of the trails are fairly straightforward, there are also sections that are technically more challenging, and novice riders will need to test themselves! You will need plenty of stamina, but a reasonably fit rider should have no problems. Vehicle support is also provided by our 4WD.
Accommodation is in a comfortable, renovated authentic Shearers quarters, on a classic Australian Outback Station.
